Spring 2025 Planting Preview: Our Team’s Favorites, Plus New Varieties for the Season
As winter fades away and the first signs of spring emerge, it’s time to refresh outdoor spaces with vibrant, seasonal plantings. Spring plants not only bring a welcome burst of color after the muted tones of winter, but they also set the stage for a thriving exterior throughout the warmer months. As we look ahead to spring planting season, our team at Oakland Green Interiors is excited to work with a mix of tried-and-true favorites along with some exciting new selections for the year! From cold-tolerant classics to fresh color variations, here’s a look at the six standout plants we’ll be incorporating into our designs this season.

Pansy
- Available in hundreds of varieties and colors to suit any design palette.
- Notable special variety: Pansy Frizzle Sizzle Lemonberry, featuring a unique color and shape (pictured above).
- Cold-tolerant, making it a reliable choice for early spring plantings.

Dusty Miller
- Soft texture and silvery foliage provide a beautiful contrast to vivid spring blooms.
- Complements a variety of flowers by adding depth and a touch of elegance.
- Hardy and adaptable, making it a great choice for containers and landscape beds.

Snapdragon
- Early-blooming variety ensures bright color right from the start of the season.
- Unique selection: Snapdragon DoubleShot Peach, a fresh take on the traditional pinks and yellows.
- Adds vertical interest with its tall blooms.

Lobelia
- Traditionally known for its striking bright blue blooms—one of the rarest colors in the plant world.
- This season, OGI is introducing both white (pictured above) and magenta Lobelia for a fresh look.
- Helps carry over container displays into early summer as pansies begin to fade.

Nemesia
- A new offering for our clients this year, bringing exciting new color options.
- Available in Nemesia Sunglow Bicolor (pictured above) and Nemesia Aromatica Rose Pink.
- Compact with fragrant flowers, making it a great addition to mixed plantings and containers.

Osteospermum (African Daisy)
- Adds height and bold color to container gardens.
- Unlike traditional summer-blooming varieties, this selection thrives in spring and will help extend spring plantings into the warmer months of summer.
- Available in Osteospermum Serenity Dark Purple (pictured above) and Osteospermum Serenity Deep Yellow to provide striking color pops.
