Seasonal Urban Gardener & Plant Installer

Full-Time | Columbus, OH
Schedule: March–January (10–11 month seasonal role with a planned layoff mid-January through mid-March)
Typical Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, with occasional Saturday mornings during peak seasons.
Pay: $16.00–$18.00/hour
Reports to: Installation & Exterior Services Manager


ABOUT THE ROLE
Join our team creating and caring for beautiful plant installations, container gardens, and seasonal décor throughout Central Ohio. This is a hands-on, active position where no two days are the same—you may be planting summer annuals one day, installing interior plants or moss walls the next, and transforming spaces with holiday décor in the winter.

You’ll work across three service areas:

  • Urban Gardening: Planting and maintaining seasonal containers (watering, pruning, fertilizing, and upkeep).

  • Interior Plant Installation: Preparing and installing living and artificial plant designs in commercial environments.

  • Holiday Décor Installation: Installing trees, wreaths, garlands, and seasonal displays in November–December, with removals in January.

What You’ll Do

  • Install and maintain exterior container plantings and seasonal displays
  • Install interior plants, moss walls, and specialty green installations
  • Water, prune, weed, and care for ongoing maintenance accounts
  • Assist with rooftop gardens, plant walls, and unique landscape projects
  • Install and remove holiday décor for commercial and residential clients
  • Deliver rented plants for events and support special projects as needed
  • Help keep our greenhouse, warehouse, and production areas organized


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We hire for attitude and team fit—we’ll train you on the technical skills.

Qualified candidates:

  • Are reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
  • Enjoy working outdoors and with their hands in all weather conditions
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Have a valid, insurable driver’s license (required) and are comfortable driving company vehicles and trucks (no CDL needed)
  • Can lift 40 lbs regularly and stay active on their feet throughout the day
  • Are comfortable using tablets/apps to track time and job details
  • Are detail-oriented and can follow directions and project notes
  • Can interact professionally with clients in high-profile spaces
  • Are willing to work some Saturdays during busy spring and holiday seasons
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and DOT physical

Plant or landscape experience is a plus, but not required.

Exterior Plant Maintenance Technician

Full-Time | Columbus, OH

ABOUT THE ROLE

OGI is seeking dedicated team members to focus on the ongoing care and maintenance of outdoor plantings throughout the Columbus area. Unlike the installation role, this position centers on nurturing and maintaining container gardens and landscapes—ensuring our clients’ spaces look their best week after week.


You’ll manage assigned service routes, build familiarity with client sites, and play a key role in sustaining the health, beauty, and performance of our exterior plant programs. During the holiday season (November–January), you’ll assist with seasonal décor installations before the winter layoff period.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain exterior container gardens and landscape beds across commercial properties
  • Water the plantings using truck-mounted systems, hoses, and hand tools
  • Prune, deadhead, fertilize, weed, and monitor plant health
  • Identify pest or disease concerns and communicate solutions

  • Document site conditions using digital tracking tools

  • Assist installation team during peak planting seasons

  • Support holiday décor installation and seasonal cleanup (Nov–Jan)
  • Help maintain equipment, vehicles, and workspace organization


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys plant care, takes pride in independent work, and has a strong eye for detail.

Qualified candidates:

  • Have a passion for plants and horticulture
  • Are dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently
  • Enjoy working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Communicate professionally with clients and team members
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs and remain active throughout the day
  • Are comfortable using tablets/apps for scheduling and reporting
  • Have a valid driver’s license with an insurable record (required)
  • Must pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screening

Experience in landscaping or horticulture is helpful, but not required—we provide training.
