Sales Associate – Commercial Biophilic Design

Full-Time | Columbus, OH
Typical Hours: Monday–Friday office hours, with additional time as needed
Pay: $40,000–$60,000/year + bonus opportunities
Reports to: Director

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our team helping businesses across Columbus transform their spaces with plants and biophilic design. Oakland Green Interiors designs, installs, and maintains interior plantscapes, living walls, exterior seasonal containers, and custom holiday décor for commercial clients ranging from corporate offices and healthcare facilities to restaurants and hospitality spaces.

This role offers a rare opportunity to learn the business from the ground up. Our senior sales manager is transitioning to part-time work after 20 years with Oakland, and this position is designed to train and mentor the next generation within our sales team.

What You’ll Do

During your first year:

  • Learn from our senior sales manager during her transition to part-time mentorship
  • Spend time alongside installation and service teams to understand how projects are executed
  • Work with our three-person sales team to learn different approaches and specialties
  • Participate in client meetings and relationship handoffs
  • Support our busiest season during holiday décor installations
  • Learn our full range of services, including interior plantscapes, living walls, exterior containers, and holiday décor
  • Develop proposals, pricing strategies, and project coordination skills

As you grow into the role:

  • Manage and maintain relationships with assigned client accounts
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking and outreach
  • Design plantscape and seasonal décor solutions that meet client needs and budgets
  • Guide projects from consultation through installation and follow-up
  • Collaborate with sales, coordination, and production teams to ensure successful execution

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, learning new industries, and balancing creative solutions with practical project execution.

Qualified candidates:

  • Have 2–3 years of B2B commercial sales experience (service industries preferred)
  • Are self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Build strong relationships through communication, reliability, and follow-through
  • Are equally comfortable in a client meeting or visiting a job site
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Are curious, proactive, and eager to learn all aspects of the business

Helpful but not required:

  • Experience with CRM systems
  • Knowledge of plants, horticulture, or design
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate, property management, or facilities management

NOW HIRING: Interior Plant Technician

Interior Plant Technician

Part-Time | Columbus, OH
Typical Hours: 20-30 hours per week, with occasional Saturday work
Pay: $15.00–$17.00/hour
Reports to: Interior Services Manager

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our team caring for vibrant interior plant displays in offices, lobbies, residences, and commercial environments throughout Central Ohio. This role is ideal for someone who loves plants, enjoys working independently, and takes pride in maintaining beautiful, healthy plant displays over time.

As an Interior Plant Care Specialist, you’ll visit client locations across the Greater Columbus area to provide professional plant maintenance for a wide variety of installations—from lobby displays and bromeliad arrangements to plant walls and atrium gardens.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide routine plant maintenance including watering, pruning, cleaning, fertilizing, and pest management
  • Replace plants as needed to maintain healthy and visually appealing displays
  • Update seasonal plantings and specialty displays
  • Maintain clear communication and records using company systems
  • Build professional relationships with clients while working in their spaces
  • Drive company vehicles to service accounts throughout the Columbus area
  • Troubleshoot plant health issues and respond to client needs

Each route includes a variety of plant species, environments, and seasonal challenges—making this a dynamic and engaging role for someone who enjoys learning and developing plant care expertise.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We hire for reliability, curiosity, and passion for plants—we’ll train you on our systems and processes.

Qualified candidates:

  • Have plant experience (houseplant hobbyists, garden center/retail plant experience, or horticulture training preferred)
  • Are organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently
  • Communicate professionally with clients, peers, and management
  • Have a valid, insurable driver’s license and feel comfortable driving company vehicles
  • Can lift up to 30 lbs and perform active, hands-on work throughout the day
    Are comfortable using ladders and getting their hands dirty
  • Are willing to obtain an Ohio Pesticide Applicator’s License (if not already licensed)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
