NOW HIRING: Field Operations & Installation Supervisor

Field Operations & Installation Supervisor |  Full-Time  |  Columbus, OH

Hours: 35–50 per week, in person

Reports to: Installation & Exterior Services Manager
Rate: $26-30/hour, based on experience

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has led a landscape crew OR managed a retail team (horticulture/outdoor living preferred)
  • Wants variety: interior tropical plants, exterior seasonal containers, living & moss walls, and holiday décor
  • Is ready to supervise 3-4 small crews (2-3 people each) while staying hands-on in the field
  • Enjoys solving problems, logistics, and making sure things get done right
  • Is looking for year-round work

 

THE ROLE

You’ll oversee our installation operations by supporting 3-4 small crews (including leading one yourself), coordinating projects, and making sure everything runs smoothly. You’ll work closely with an experienced team who knows our clients, our systems, and our standards.

What you’ll actually do:

  • Lead one crew yourself while supervising 2-3 additional (small) installation teams
  • Run weekly team meetings, assign crews to jobs, review priorities, solve issues
  • Work in the field 70-80% of the time performing installations (plants, containers, living walls, holiday décor)
  • Coordinate logistics across multiple job sites (materials, equipment, access)
  • Conduct pre-install site visits to assess measurements and challenges
  • Train and support team members through hands-on leadership
  • Track project hours and materials
  • Lead our busy holiday installation season (November-January)
  • Spend 20-30% of your time on planning, scheduling, and coordination

This is primarily a field-based role with some office time. The field/office split flexes seasonally.

 

WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE

Background-wise, you might be:

  • A landscape crew foreman (1-3 years) ready to manage multiple teams
  • A garden center or nursery management role seeking B2B work
  • A horticulture retail supervisor wanting a more hands-on leadership role
  • A landscape construction lead looking for year-round work with more variety and less heavy labor

Personality-wise, you:

  • Loves field work but can handle planning and coordination
  • Are flexible and adaptable – you pivot quickly when plans change
  • Lead by example and works alongside your crew
  • Figure things out – when challenges come up, you solve them
  • Follow through – if you say you’ll do something, it gets done
  • Communicate clearly with teams, clients, and leadership
  • Want to learn from an experienced team while bringing your own expertise

Experience-wise, you have:

  • 2-4 years managing/leading a crew OR team (landscape, horticulture, or related field)
  • Hands-on installation or building skills – you can do the actual work yourself
  • Knowledge of plants, tools, equipment (we can teach you the specifics!)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in most weather, use ladders/lifts
  • Can pass a DOT physical and drug screen (Oakland is a drug-free workplace)
