NOW HIRING: Seasonal, FT or PT Urban Gardener/Plant and Holiday Decor Installer
Do you love caring for plants? Being outside? Are you a team player who likes to learn new skills, seeking a fun, close-knit team to work with?
If yes, then you might be a perfect fit for our growing, woman-led team!
TO APPLY: Fill out the form to the right, including your resume and any additional information you want to share to help you stand out.
Oakland Green Interiors (we’re a division of Oakland Nursery) is seeking seasonal, FULL TIME or PART TIME candidates to fill the role of a “utility player/installer.” You will be working across three different areas for the next six months:
More details:
You will be trained on almost all aspects of our front-line work: installation and maintenance of exterior plant projects, holiday décor installation, and interior plant installation.
This job involves the watering and maintenance of existing exterior projects, as well as installing interior or exterior plant projects (then pivoting to holiday décor installation in November and December, with take downs happening in January.) Your typical week may include a set 3 days of an exterior maintenance watering route, and the other 2 days you may be planting annuals, installing living plants in a commercial space, or installing a moss or living wall.
Come November, we’re all hands on deck for holiday décor installation–live and artificial trees, wreaths, garlands, and more. It’s one of our busiest times of year, and we do some amazing projects throughout Columbus!
We Value Cultural Fit Above All
Our five core values guide everything we do:
PASSION – We find joy in enhancing environments and embracing continuous learning. You should genuinely love working with plants and creating beautiful spaces.
INTEGRITY – We deliver quality through honesty and transparency. You make responsible decisions and uphold professional standards in all client relationships.
CREATIVITY – We promote innovative plant design and evolve with changing trends. You’re willing to think outside the box and contribute fresh ideas.
COLLABORATION – We harness diverse perspectives for shared success. You thrive in a team environment and support both teammates and clients.
RESPECT – We believe kindness and respect create sustainable, positive outcomes. You treat everyone with dignity, from team members, to clients, to the very plants that we work with.
Qualified candidates:
-Have a valid (insurable) driver’s license–you’ll be driving company cars and large trucks (up to 26′)–safe driving is mandatory! (But no need for a CDL)
-Have some plant/horticulture knowledge, or a passion for learning
-Can work independently as needed, and as part of a team
-Are willing to get their hands dirty, and can handle working in the cold
-Have flexible schedules when things get busy (we work some Saturdays during the busy seasons)
-Are detail-oriented and can follow project notes, as well as using digital apps (ExakTime and TeamUp) to track time and materials on jobs and routes
-Can interact with clients in a friendly, professional manner–we work in very high profile commercial offices, public buildings, and private residences
-Can lift 40 lbs regularly (mulch bags, water buckets, tropical plants, and faux Christmas trees are heavy!)
-Can climb ladders, get in and out of a truck easily, and are willing to learn to drive forklifts, scissor lifts, large trucks, and tow trucks with trailers
-Are comfortable being on your feet for 6-8 hours a day
-Prior experience is a bonus, but we hire for personality and fit with our team. We will train you on the technical stuff.
We are a drug-free workplace and drug test on hire. We provide uniforms (both for working in professional settings and for working outside.)
