The calathea medallion has large oval shaped leaves with concentric shades of light and dark green, and feathered variegation with hints of pink. A purple underleaf and deep purple stems provide further contrast. Native to South America, calathea come in a wide variety of beautifully patterned foliage. They prefer medium to bright indirect light, but too much sun with fade their colors.
Lighting: They prefer medium to bright indirect light, but too much sun will fade their colors. They'll be happy in any room with a window and some natural light.
Watering: Weekly: calathea prefer consistently moist (but not soggy) soil and higher humidity. They would be happy to be occasionally sprayed with a showerhead or sink sprayer. If they start to dry out, you'll see their leaves curl up--if you see this, water them ASAP.
Toxic to Pets: NO! Calathea are non-toxic to pets!
